Similarity bias is a powerful psychological tendency towards people
perceived as similar to ourselves. In other words, birds of a feather flock together. When it comes to hiring decisions, are the preferred
candidates similar to ourselves? Hiring individuals who have similar personality traits may not be a bad thing, but we may be missing out on better candidates who
could take our organization to the next level. The presenter will share her findings from her graduate Capstone Research project on the relationship
between the personality of human resource professionals, specifically those rating candidates, and the personality of preferred candidates. Further, the presenter
will share the preferred personality traits of training and development professionals. Participants will learn about: • Similarity Bias • The Big Five
Personality Model • The preferred personality traits of Training and Development professionals • Research findings on raters and preferred candidates’ personality
traits.
