Dr. Richard A. Swanson

This interview was recorded by Liz Tomlin-Travis and Kathy Frank, my graduate students at the Adult Learning and Organizational Performance Master's program at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  This time you will hear from evaluation expert Prof. Richard Swanson.

 

During his academic career, Professor Swanson served on the graduate faculties of four universities. Among his numerous roles, he directed of the University of Minnesota Human Resource Development Research Center and served as the Distinguished Research Professor of Human Resource at the University of Texas.

Swanson was the founding editor for two scholarly journals, edited four journals, and played a major role in establishing two additional journals. He was inducted into the Human Resource Development Scholar Hall of Fame (2004) and the Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame (2001).

Swanson’s extensive consulting work, research, and writings have focused on performance improvement, evaluation, the development of expertise, and theory development in applied disciplines.
